Trauma Therapy
When the past still shows up in the present.
What trauma can look like
Trauma doesn’t always show up as a clear memory of something that happened. Sometimes it shows up in the ways you’ve learned to move through the world: staying alert, anticipating what could go wrong, keeping your guard up, or feeling responsible for keeping everything together.

You might understand that something is different now and still notice your mind or body responding as though it isn’t. Certain situations, relationships, sensations, or emotions can bring up reactions that feel bigger than the moment itself. Other times, you may feel disconnected, shut down, or far away from what you’re feeling altogether.

These responses often developed for a reason. They helped you navigate experiences that felt overwhelming, unsafe, or outside of your control. But what helped you get through something then may not always feel helpful now.
A different way of working with trauma
Therapy doesn’t have to mean telling every detail of what happened or pushing yourself to revisit experiences. We can start with what’s happening for you now and explore how past experiences may still be showing up. Alongside conversation, we might use mindfulness, body awareness, grounding, gentle movement, or creative reflection. We’ll move at your pace.

The goal isn’t to erase what happened or become completely unaffected by the past. It’s to help you understand the ways your mind and body learned to respond, recognize what you need now, and build a greater sense of safety and trust in yourself.
